Mind in Motion - Neuroplasticity gets real

The Let’s Get Real Movement Festival focuses on the practical tools the Feldenkrais Method provides for improving your life by harnessing your brain’s ability to change. Organized by Australian powerhouse, Angela MacMillian, who graduated from the teacher training program Alan Questel and I directed in Adelaide, this event features some of the best teachers from Down Under and the US. The program offers a mix of intriguing panel discussions, informative presentations, and transformational experiential movement lessons. I’m honored to be a member of the Beyond Hacking Your Brain: Harnessing the Feldenkrais Method panel on the third day.

If you’re curious about the brain’s ability to change and what it means in practical terms, I recommend Susan Hillier’s opening presentation tomorrow, What is Neuroplasticity? A professor of Neuroscience and Rehabilitation at the University of South Australia, physiotherapist, and Feldenkrais teacher and trainer, Susan makes difficult concepts understandable and approachable. You can expect an enlightening, no-BS presentation about this popular but often oversimplified idea.

Dr. Hillier is one of the outstanding faculty members of the new international Feldenkrais teacher training program I’m directing in the Netherlands, starting in August. You can learn about it here.
