Mind in Motion - Gratitude

Gratitude

To become fully human means learning to turn my gratitude
for being alive into some concrete common good.
It means growing gentler toward human weakness.
It means practicing forgiveness of my and everyone else’s
hourly failures to live up to divine standards.
It means learning to forget myself on a regular basis
in order to attend to the other selves in my vicinity.
It means living so that “I’m only human”
does not become an excuse for anything.
It means receiving the human condition as blessing and not curse,
in all its achingly frail and redemptive reality.

In these trying times, at home and abroad, on a whitewashed US holiday fraught with contradictions, I am spending the day with members of both of my families, the one I was born into and the one I chose. We are gathering from near and far for a meal featuring classic ingredients prepared in non-traditional dishes.

Thanks to their support, guidance, and affection, I wouldn’t have the fortitude or courage to have made it today. I am so grateful.

This year marks 40 years of being a Feldenkrais teacher. In appreciation for the support, recognition, and faith of my students, teachers, colleagues, allies, and community, we are offering 40% off every digital product in the Mind in Motion shop.

Use the code Fantastic40 when you check out to receive 40% off your purchase. This discount is available from now until the end of “Cyber Monday,” 11:59 PM US Pacific Standard Time on the 27th of November, 2023.

I took the photo at the top of today’s post.

Congrats for fourty years . I took this picture of the moon rising tonight. If it does not open for you, know that I think you are wonderful for the questions you ask and for the magical observations you make.
