Who looks outside, dreams.
Who looks inside, awakens.
— Carl Jung
My friend Chance pulled me aside at my birthday party, saying, “I don’t know if this will mean something. I had a dream about you the other night. In it, I saw da Vinci’s Vitruvian man. Does it mean anything to you?”
“Yes,” I responded, “indeed it does. Feldenkrais resonated with this symbol. He referred to it when he taught about the proportions of the human body. ”
“That’s good because I made you this,” she said as she placed the wire sculpture pictured above into the palm of my hand.
I have no idea how it happens, but I sure am grateful that my friends and I are on the same wavelength.

Beautiful. Happy Birthday, again. And stay close to your friend, Chance. (I don’t have name envy about many names, but I would have loved to have been named Chance.)

Indeed it was a beautiful gesture. You could even say that the sculpture captures the artist's gestures and make the ephemeral concrete.
