I want there to be a place in the world
where people can engage in one another’s differences
in a way that is redemptive, full of hope and possibility.

To commemorate the founding of the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association 36 years ago and celebrate the growing profession of somatic movement education and therapy, ISMETA created Global Somatic Movement Day. This day-long worldwide online event will happen this Friday, October 4th, 2024.
The program consists of experiential sessions presented by practitioners of a wide array of current somatic movement methodologies. Each 15-minute session is a response to one or more of the following prompts:
- I love somatic movement because…
- I practice somatic movement because…
- I teach somatic movement because…
The program offers a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse range of somatic movement practices, combining pre-recorded and live events. Tune in to learn and experience the fantastic diversity of somatic movement practices. Stacy Barrows and I are each presenting the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education; I’ll be doing the day’s final presentation. You’ll find the schedule along with the Zoom link and passcode here.
The program runs from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM US Eastern time, offering you the flexibility to join at your convenience and stay for as long or as little as you like. To find your local time, please click here.
If you can join us at 12 noon Eastern time, you’ll see the international premiere of the Global Roots of Somatic Movement video series, featuring somatic pioneers from various traditions.
Can’t attend the live event? No worries. The pre-recorded sessions will be available on the new ISMETA YouTube channel. The live sessions will be recorded and uploaded to YouTube the following week. If you subscribe now, you will receive access to the content when it launches on October 4th, and if you opt to receive notifications about new content, you will stay updated about future videos as well!
