This past Tuesday, I had outpatient surgery to repair my broken right upper arm bone. Two screws were needed to reconnect the lateral condyle of the humerus to the shaft of the bone. I'm glad to report that the operation went smoothly and that the patient is now home recuperating. Already my Feldenkrais experience served me well as I faced everyday activities—like getting in and out of bed—with new limitations. Luckily, I didn't wait to get Functional Integration lessons; the FI the day after the accident was especially significant (Thank you Julie Peck!). I'm looking foward to more FIs and Awareness Through Movement lessons as a central part of my rehab. The doc says the prognosis is good...it's going to be at least a few weeks before I'm back up to speed, but I'm cleared to start slowly back to work next week. When I do emerge from the fog and soreness, one of the first things on my agenda is to learn how to use the speech-recognition software I bought last year.
