We are constantly invited to be who we are.

Have you seen the timetable for this week’s 2024 LGBTQIA Fall Feldenkrais Festival yet?
It’s chock-a-block with Feldenkrais classes, mini-workshops, panel discussions, movies, and music. The international program reminded me of what Jim McCay, the announcer for ABC’s weekly Wide World of Sports from 1961 to 1998, would say at the start of every show about spanning the globe.
Feldenkrais teachers and trainers from Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and North and South America teach classes and mini-workshops from Tuesday through Thursday. As if that weren’t enough, an international roster of teachers offers a nearly non-stop Awareness Through Movement marathon of hourly classes from Saturday through Sunday.
I was excited to see many colleagues on the roster, including folks I’ve learned from, worked with, and taught. I’m looking forward to taking lessons from friends I rarely see, like Kajetan Schamesberger from Austria and Margie Kaye from Australia, if I can stay up late enough. I remember one of the presenters, Melody Lin, from when I taught in her training program; I’m curious to find out what she will offer. Another, Jackie Adkins, graduated from a program I co-directed in Amsterdam twenty years ago, and I’m delighted to have a chance to be her student.
As you can see, the festival offers a precious opportunity to experience an incredible range of approaches to bringing Moshe’s methodology. I don’t know everyone teaching; even so, I encourage you to take a chance on those you have never heard of yet. For instance, if the timing works, I suggest you check out Kim Uhe from New Zealand. Thanks to an online study group we participate in, I have had the good fortune to experience her classes, so I can assure you she’s a fine teacher.
I’ll be teaching twice:
- From 12:30 to 3:30 PM US Eastern time on Friday, 15 November 2024, I’m offering a mini-workshop.
Do you know that your potency doesn’t come from having power over others or yourself?
Are you curious about connecting with the power within, remembering yourself, and discovering how to act with quiet strength?
If so, I invite you to join me. - At 3:00 PM US Eastern time on Saturday. 16 November, I’ll teach From Here to There. In this class, you’ll learn an unusual—and unusually easy— way to go from sitting to lying.
Participation in this year’s autumn LGBTQIA Festival is open to anybody; that’s the “A” in the title, which stands for ‘Allies.’ Everyone who supports the LGBTQIA community is welcome.
There’s no set ticket price. Instead, this donation-supported event asks you to choose your price. Everyone’s financial situation is different, so contribute what you can. If you contribute $200 or more, you’ll receive audio recordings as a token of the organizer’s appreciation.
I hope to see you there! Click here to register.
