Mind in Motion - 50 Years in Motion

The Feldenkrais Guild of Israel is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first Feldenkrais Teacher’s training program. The graduates of this program were the first group of teachers that Moshe trained, spreading the work far and wide and, eventually, becoming the first cadre of people training new teachers. I had the good fortune, joy, and privilege to study, learn from, and get to teach with two of this inspired and inspiring group of pioneers: Gaby Yaron and Myriam Pfeffer. The guild will honor the occasion with an international two-day celebration next month.

A week from this coming Sunday, August first, the Guild is broadcasting Awareness Through Movement classes in six different languages. Highly regarded Feldenkrais trainers will teach lessons in seven languages:

  • Italian — Isabella Torino
  • German — Eli Wadler
  • French — Sabine Pfeffer
  • Hebrew — Chava Shalhav
  • Spanish — Marilupe Campero
  • English — Moshe Feldenkrais
Featuring a recording of Moshe from the teacher training in Amherst, Massachusetts (USA) in the early 1980s, provided courtesy of the International Feldenkrais Federation.

From what I could gather, the following day, August second, members of the Guild will be teaching live ATM classes all over Israel at sunset. After the lessons, you will be able to check out the online premiere of interviews with Chava Shelhav and Eli Wadler, two the esteemed graduates of that initial training.

The festival is entirely free of charge.

All of the online events are happening via Facebook Live. To get more information, find the schedules, and participate, please click here for the Guild’s Facebook event page.

One more thing . . . to mark this historic moment, Tsippy Ganan, chairperson of the Israeli Guild, made an informal YouTube video following Moshe’s footsteps from the time he arrived in Tel Aviv. To watch it, please click here.
