October 3 to October 7
During the third year of Feldenkrais Training, each student’s growth continues to be a focus, but significant time will be spent developing the technical skills, touch, sensory acuity and understanding required to give Functional Integration lessons. The experience of ATM will be interwoven with the study of FI. You will watch Feldenkrais lessons being given to clients with a broad range of physical problems, and begin to develop a sense of the creative elements involved. Important underlying dynamics, common to both FI and ATM, will constantly be reinforced. We will explore the application of Functional Integration with specific groups including children with motor development issues, musicians, athletes, and adults with neuromuscular problems or chronic pain. You will learn FI strategies to interrupt neurological habits, take over the work of the muscles, and elicit basic functional and developmental patterns.
